Growing Miami Together

NUANCE – MIAMI (New Urban Agriculture, Neighborhood, Community, & Education) is a nonprofit transforming underused land across Miami into high-impact agriculture and polyculture composting farms. We grow fresh organic produce, divert thousands of tons of food and landscaping waste, and deliver real solutions to food insecurity, waste management, and local sustainability - all while keeping proceeds in the neighborhoods we serve.

Our Mission

NUANCE – MIAMI is launching a comprehensive, community-first initiative designed to tackle three major challenges at once: food insecurity, organic waste, and neighborhood revitalization. With funding, we plan to develop:

  • A network of soil-based greenhouses and row crop fields to grow organic produce year-round.

  • Multiple vermicomposting yards to process landscaping debris, precomsumer food waste, and brown cardboard into nutrient-rich soil.

  • A food distribution program focused on serving Miami’s lowest-income communities

  • A local education endowment fund to support youth education, nutrition, and community stewardship.

  • On-site solar and microgrid systems to reduce energy costs and build resilience during outages.

This is not a pilot. It’s a scalable solution designed for long-term impact. Every partner, every donor, and every dollar helps us bring this vision to life — right here in the communities that need it most.

Impact Stats

Miami-Dade County generates over 700,000 tons of organic waste annually — including 443,000+ tons of yard debris and an estimated 700,000+ tons of food waste. Most of this ends up in landfills, producing methane and overwhelming our waste system. Meanwhile, thousands of families in low-income neighborhoods face limited access to fresh produce and affordable groceries.

NUANCE – MIAMI is designed to solve both problems at once: we’ll divert waste from landfills, turn it into nutrient-rich compost, and grow organic food that stays in the communities that need it most. It’s local, circular, and completely reinvested in Miami-Dade. By Year 5, NUANCE – MIAMI aims to:

  • Divert over +60,000 tons of waste per year

  • Grow, sell, and distribute +150,000 pounds of produce annually

  • Serve dozens of schools, hospitals, and food-insecure families

  • Reinvest all revenue back into Miami-Dade communities
